Security flaw found in Chrome and Edge browsers

A vulnerability has been identified in the V8 JavaScript engine used by Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. It's classed as an improper input validation flaw, which means malicious code could potentially be processed in a way it shouldn't be. The fix originated with Google's Chromium project and Microsoft has picked it up for Edge. Both browsers need updating to close the gap.

What this means for your business

If your staff use Chrome or Edge for day-to-day work, and most do, you'll want to make sure both browsers are on their latest versions as soon as possible. In a managed environment your IT provider can push that update centrally, but it's worth checking nothing has been held back by a deferred update policy. Browser exploits like this are a common entry point, so don't leave it sitting.
