Apple refreshes MacBook Pro and iMac with new M6 chip

15h agoVia The RegisterWritten for Lucame clients

Apple has announced its sixth-generation M-series processor, the M6, and it's now shipping in updated MacBook Pro and iMac models. The new chip brings more CPU and GPU cores, faster unified memory, a more capable neural processing unit for AI tasks, and improved connectivity options.

What this means for your business

If your firm is already on M1 or M2 Macs, there's no urgent reason to upgrade right now, but if you're due a refresh cycle this year it's worth factoring these in. The faster memory and improved NPU will make a practical difference for users doing video work, running local AI tools, or working with large spreadsheets. UK pricing and availability haven't been confirmed at time of writing, so check with your supplier before committing to any orders.
