LUCAMEIDC, an independent research firm, has placed Microsoft in the leader category of its 2026 MarketScape assessment covering modern endpoint security products for enterprises. The assessment looks at how well vendors protect laptops, desktops and other devices across large and mid-sized organisations. Microsoft's Defender platform was the product under review. These assessments are one of the ways IT buyers benchmark vendors against each other.
What this means for your business
If you're already running Microsoft 365 Business Premium or have Defender for Endpoint, this is a reasonable signal that you're on a credible platform. It doesn't mean you can leave it to run itself, though. The value only comes through if it's properly configured and someone's actually watching the alerts, which is where a lot of smaller businesses fall short.
