Oracle teams up with Google to expand AI chip options

12h agoVia The RegisterWritten for Lucame clients

Oracle is adding Google's TPU chips to its cloud platform alongside more Nvidia hardware and access to OpenAI's services. The move is aimed at businesses that want to run AI workloads but need more flexibility in how they source the underlying computing power.

What this means for your business

If you're already using Oracle Cloud or thinking about it, this gives you more options for running AI tools without being locked into one chip supplier. For most small and mid-sized businesses, the practical effect is still some way off - the bigger question is whether you've identified what you'd actually use AI for before committing to any cloud spend. Worth keeping an eye on pricing as competition between Oracle, Google, and AWS tends to push costs down over time.
