Our own office is in the borough, so most of Barnet is fifteen minutes away. We cover everything from the 1930s semis along the A1000 to the big detached houses out at Arkley and Totteridge.
Barnet's business stock is small professional practices and independent traders rather than corporate offices. Solicitors and accountants along Ballards Lane and the High Street, dental and medical practices, lettings agents, a lot of firms working out of a converted first floor.
That means building constraints we know well: listed frontages where you cannot run external cable, shared entrances, and landlords who need asking before anything is drilled.
Totteridge and Arkley have long plots, outbuildings and garden offices, and a router by the front door that was never going to reach any of them.
Nearer the tube it is 1930s semis with thick internal walls and a loft conversion the signal never gets to. Different problem, same fix: survey first, then place kit properly.
Barnet is not one place. Colindale is new-build flats with thin partitions and a shared riser, where the trouble is usually interference from forty neighbouring networks rather than weak signal. Hendon and Edgware are inter-war semis, solid brick, where a single mesh node downstairs never reaches the back bedroom.
Then Arkley and Totteridge, where the house is big enough that you need cabled access points and anything wireless-only is a waste of money. We would rather tell you that before you buy it.
Mill Hill adds another wrinkle: enough of it sits in a dip that mobile signal is poor, so people lean harder on Wi-Fi calling, and patchy coverage stops being an annoyance and starts being the reason you miss calls.
On site everywhere here, usually within the hour if something is down. Finchley has its own page since that is where we are based.
The borough throws up the same handful of jobs, in offices and houses alike.
Rear extensions and loft conversions are everywhere in Barnet, and almost none of them had a data cable run while the walls were open. We work out whether it needs a cabled access point or whether moving what you have will do.
Colindale and Burnt Oak blocks have dozens of overlapping networks. Buying a faster router does nothing. Changing channel and band usage does.
Set up years ago by someone who has left. Old accounts still live, no MFA, permissions nobody can explain.
Distribution rather than dishes. One subscription, picture in the bedrooms and the kitchen, no box and remote in every room.
Leases turn over constantly here. Cabling, broadband transfer, kit moved over a weekend so Monday is not a write-off.
Plenty have one. Far fewer have restored from it.
Forty-five minutes, on site or remote. We look at what you have: devices, licences, backups, network kit, who can get at what. Then we tell you where the risk sits and roughly what it costs to deal with.
You get it in writing either way. Some firms take that document and fix things themselves. That is fine.
Tell us roughly how many people, what software you cannot work without, and who looks after your IT now.
Call and describe it however makes sense. A couple of photos usually tells us whether it is a half hour fix or a bigger job.
