Metroland: long gardens, detached houses, and a lot of people who have worked from a back bedroom since 2020 and would now like it to work properly.
Harrow town centre has the larger offices, but most of our work out here is smaller: consultancies, surveyors, therapists, accountants, often run from home or from a converted outbuilding.
The requirements are the same as any office, just at a smaller scale. Proper backup, Microsoft 365 that is actually administered, and security that would survive a client asking about it.
Pinner, Northwood and Eastcote have deep gardens and detached houses set back from the road. Garden offices, converted garages and summer houses at the bottom of the plot are common, and none of them get usable Wi-Fi by accident.
Ruislip adds a lot of 1930s stock with solid walls and, increasingly, loft conversions with nothing wired to them.
More garden offices out here than anywhere else we work, and most arrive with the same story: a repeater plugged in near the back door, a connection that drops whenever the kettle goes on, and a video call that freezes once a day.
The honest answer is usually a buried armoured cable to the outbuilding and an access point at the far end. It is more work than a repeater and it is the only version that holds up through a winter.
The other recurring job is households with an EV charger, a heat pump and a home office all added in the last few years, where the broadband and the consumer unit were both sized for a different decade. We cannot help with the electrics, but we can stop the network being the bottleneck.
On site throughout both boroughs, with remote support anywhere in the UK.
Bigger plots, more outbuildings, and a lot of home offices that were meant to be temporary.
A buried cable and an access point, rather than a repeater and hope. Done once, works for years.
Backup, a proper Microsoft 365 setup, and security that stands up if a client asks.
The walls were open and nobody ran a cable. We work out the least destructive route now.
Distance from the street cabinet matters. Sometimes the fix is the line, sometimes the internal wiring, and the two get confused.
Install, configure, and fix the ones that keep losing rooms.
Specced to what you actually do with it, not to whatever has the best margin.
Forty-five minutes, on site or remote. We look at what you have: devices, licences, backups, network kit, who can get at what. Then we tell you where the risk sits and roughly what it costs to deal with.
You get it in writing either way. Some firms take that document and fix things themselves. That is fine.
Tell us roughly how many people, what software you cannot work without, and who looks after your IT now.
Call and describe it however makes sense. A couple of photos usually tells us whether it is a half hour fix or a bigger job.
